About CMP

Comfort My People Ministries (CMP) finds its meaning in the words that God gave Prophet Isaiah concerning the situation of His people, Israel. (Isa. 40:1-2)  If there were any people that ever had need of those same words as did God speak to His prophet, Isaiah, they are the people of Rwanda.  The agony of war and genocide of 1994 will continue to impact on these people until healing finds its way into their hearts through the power of love and God’s holy Word.

It is in this regard that CMP draws its inspiration and initiation to bring the message and action of hope to the African people – in Rwanda.

mission

Our Mission is our vision to create consensus and goodwill, mobilize resources, and build capacity to recognize, appreciate, comfort, encourage, and empower new generation of African women, children, youth, poor and victims of war, genocide and HIV/AIDS out of their economic, social, and emotional difficulties into a life of freedom, peacefulness, productivity and hope.

IN TWO WORD <KINDOM OF GOD>

By this we have the big obligation:

  • To listen to the very needy people’s stories of their situations in Africa;
  • To share these stories to listening partners outside of Africa;
  • To identify priorities and, together with African-in Rwanda, offer possible solutions reflected in these needs;
  •  To work for change in attitude and maintain the focus on hope.

EXISTING SITUATION in Rwanda

The categories of situation we are faced with now touches on immense poverty, linking onto ignorance and diseases among:

Women – such as widows of war, genocide, and HIV/AIDS; single mothers; women in armed conflict; very poor women; etc…..

Children – namely; orphans of war, genocide and HIV/AIDS; street children; children in armed conflicts; children abused; children in child-headed families; Child labor etc….

Youth – including; youth emerging from war and genocide; youth living with HIV/AIDS; youth out of schools (drop-outs); drug addict youth; etc….

Poor – in the mention of: urban poor (slum victims); rural poor; indigenous community (Pygmies community); the disabled; the aged; people in disaster and armed conflict areas; etc ….

HIV/AIDS victims – covering people living with HIV/AIDS; orphans; widows; etc ….

CHALLENGES

The present challenges of this organization include, among others:

1. The common reality that characterizes any worthy initiative at the early stages of events and establishment.

2. Reaching out empty handed to such very needy and hungry people who are often with very sickly children and others out of school.

3. The concern in meetings where more and more very needy people come forward and who want to be enlisted.

4. Being able to meet every poor and needy person, enlisted with us, at his/her place of residence and thereby being able to assess, compare and prioritize the level of poverty each of these families live in.

COURAGE AND COMFORT

In the face of the challenges surrounding the work and the need of the people here

We take courage and comfort in the fact that the vision belongs to the Lord

We are strengthened by the promises of His unfailing Word and love.

We are motivated by the all-time awareness of our praying partners.

We are assured by the old adage that: Where there is a will, there is a way!
